HOUNSLOW Community Hub has delivered more than 2,500 food parcels across the borough to help those in need during the Covid-19 crisis.
The Hub, set up by Hounslow Council at the end of March, includes community and voluntary groups who are helping to deal with 11,000 calls and emails to aid vulnerable and isolated residents.
Librarians have been drafted in to help the customer service team answer calls and emails to help distribute food supplies and offer a befriending service.
Cllr Lily Bath, the council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for housing and social inclusion, said it is “inspiring” more than 400 residents had signed up to volunteer via the Hub website.
