What is good and what is bad in Planning for the Future?

August 27, 2020 @ 11:00 am 12:00 pm

The Planning for the Future white paper promises more focus on strategic decisions, clearer designations and simpler, quicker processes. That should increase certainty around development, which is to be welcomed. But will it be to the detriment of design quality, sustainability and other characteristics that create enduringly successful places? And do local authorities have the powers and resources to create and deliver plans that are right for their area? How will they work with consultees such as Environment Agency, Natural England, Historic England and the Highways Agency? And will developer contributions to public services and infrastructure be sufficient?
